My family has loved Suzi's food since I was a kid. It's always been top-notch and full of the best flavors; and Suzi herself is a wonderful, kind, joyous woman who runs a great business with the best staff around. Cannot recommend this place enough!
We went for lunch recently and it was great. Not much can be said that hasn't been mentioned in all these great reviews. It's great to enjoy delicious food and you actually feel appreciated for your business. Service was excellent and the setting is so relaxing. We'll be back soon!
Great food & service!!! So happy Suzi is back in Austin after being gone for many years!
Suzi Yi, a gracious hostess and a legendary figure in Austin's culinary landscape, once operated one of the city's most cherished Asian restaurants before her retirement in 2018. Her return to the scene with her new venture, Suzi's, is an exciting homecoming! Suzi's dishes are elevated classics, each one bursting with flavor. We started with the egg rolls--(which are offered in both vegetable and pork variations) and the crab rangoons, with their crunchy shell and creamy cheese center; they were served with Suzi's house-made duck sauce and hot mustard. Next was the orange crispy beef (which we ordered extra crispy), a perfect balance of crispy, sweet, and spicy goodness. The restaurant is vibrant yet intimate; the atmosphere feels lively and inviting. Suzi keeps a watchful eye on every detail, ensuring that the standards she's known for are upheld in every aspect of the dining experience. The staff at Suzi's are as knowledgeable as they are attentive, guiding diners through the menu with recommendations. The service was quick and efficient but not rushed at all! Suzi's Chinese feels like a return to something essential: a celebration of tradition, a testament to Yi's storied career, a vibrant new chapter in Austin's ever-evolving culinary narrative, and an enduring reminder of what has always made Austin's food scene genuinely unique and special.
This is a great low key laid back vibe for a reasonably priced dinner with great quality Chinese food. The waitress was the sweetest woman ever and gave me an off menu recommendation (i.e. secret menu item) the orange beef stir fry. It was the most tender beef I've ever had with amazing sauce that wasn't overly sweet or overpowering. She was so attentive to us, getting me extra rice before me evening having to ask 11/10 on service. All my friends dishes also look really good and I got to try my friend's orange chicken which was also solid. The warm sake was good and very reasonably priced $6 for a small vase of it. Most dishes were also pretty reasonable around $15-19 each. Will absolutely be making this a more regular place and especially for takeout!
We went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't very busy. The service was prompt including the food coming out quickly. Since lunch portions which include soup and an eggroll were available, we ordered that way instead of family style. But we did get the green beans family style. I really enjoyed my garlic chicken. They friends endjoyed the Buddha's delight and orange peel beef. The only complaint was with the sesame chicken. The flavor was good but some pieces were too tough. If you'd ever been to Suzi's kitchen, it was like returning there which was what I was hoping for. They've brightened up the space from its previous look. There's a beautiful cherry blossom and crane mural. But the wood floors, tables and back deck are pretty much the same. It's a comfortable space that didn't get too loud even as it filled up.
I'm so happy that Suzi's is back. It was a favorite years ago. The new location is located across the street from the best. Ail salon (Ten Spot). We did take out of our old favorites: Mongolian beef, sesame chicken and sweet and sour chicken. It was all good, just like we remembered. And they packaged them well for to-go as nothing was soggy when we ate at home. We look forward to visiting the dining room next time. There is also a covered patio in the back, along with extra parking.
Suzi serves up first-rate Chinese food at her new establishment on Burnet. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, feeling both comfortable and upscale. Suzi is always here, making sure her customers are happy! If I lived in Austin, I would be here at least once a week! During my trip to Austin I went to Suzi's twice, and tried the orange chicken and orange shrimp, both of which were outstanding. I only discovered this place in the last week of my visit, otherwise I would have been here many more times! Look no further than Suzi's Chinese for a great meal!
My favorite Chinese place has come back! Got to see Ms. Suzie herself on this visit. She's the sweetest person and so welcoming. The food is always perfect, we started off with pork egg rolls, crab rangoons and fried wings. For our entrees we ordered the sesame chicken and sesame shrimp. Everything was finger licking good! Service as always is to par. This new spot is so beautiful from the outdoor patio ambiance to the sweet niche inside. Always planing on coming back for more. Suzie, we are so happy to have you back! We sure did miss you and your delicious food!
Ate at this recently opened restaurant with my wife. Despite a crowd at the door, we were seated promptly at the bar by a very friendly, efficient seating host. Thanks! Lovely fellow behind the bar greeted us with a genuine warmth. Nice touch. My wife enjoyed a glass of rose. We ordered the pan fried dumplings at Suzi's recommendation, beef and broccoli, and a beef, shrimp, and chicken dish. Food was great! Served hot, great sauces on the main course dishes, and perfectly cooked veggies. Reasonable prices for the delicious, fresh tasting food! Suzi's previous restaurant, off Anderson near Mopac, was our favorite Chinese restaurant in Austin. So, we are very excited with Suzi's return. I am hoping the menu evolves to include duck, more soups, and salt and pepper fish, squid, and shrimp options. But, lots of choices for now and we are eager to return soon to try some other dishes. In the nature of what could be better next time ... the dining experience felt very rushed. Food came out overly fast, staff was moving crazy fast, almost a frenetic pace really, and we were presented the bill (via credit card machine) no more than a minute after we put our forks down and the plates were removed. Simply, the pacing seemed obviously rushed to make way for the large crowd. This is easily fixable -- and did not take away from the great food and our desire to return soon But, a bit more chill next time please. For those that enjoy outdoor dining the patio is nice size and a really nice touch! Welcome back Suzi. We missed you!
